  • Czeslaw Zuber

Born in 1948. In 1974 he graduated from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław. Since 1982 he has been living and working in Paris. In the years 1975-1979 he was a designer at the Artistic Glassworks "Barbara" in Polanica. At that time, interesting intentional objects were created, which referred to the socio-political situation of the time. The result of moving to Paris was, among other things, the artist's contact with blocks of optical glass (produced for the needs of the army), as well as the neo-expressionist work of "New Wilds". Czesław Zuber's creative interests go beyond his activity in the fields of art. While still a student, in 1967 he began to perform as an actor in the student Mime Theatre "Gest", with which he collaborated until 1975. In the years 1976-1980 he was associated with Jerzy Grotowski's "Laboratory" theatre, participating in many paratheatrical projects.   The artist is a laureate of a distinction at the National Exhibition of Unique and Industrial Glass in Katowice in 1979, a distinction at the Coburger Glasspreis exhibition in Coburg (Germany) in 1985, a Gold Medal in the American Inter Faith Institute competition in Philadelphia (USA) in 1992. In 1980 he received an artistic scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and Art, in 1987 an artistic scholarship from the French Ministry of Culture and Art. In 2013, for his artistic achievements, Czesław Zuber was honored by the Minister of Culture and Art with the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis.
